2021/22 racing season wrap
02 Aug 2022
As a new racing season begins, we took a look back at the performances of Willow Park graduates in 2021/22, by horses that were born, raised and/or consigned by Willow Park as weanlings or yearlings.
Willow Park provided 56 individual winners of 100 races across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore this season, of which 27 horses won more than one race. Dr Evil (Casino Prince x Rasay Mist) and Easy Single (Not A Single Doubt x Special Lover) claimed five wins each, closely followed by Celebrity Witness (Star Witness x Rosslago), who won four races in Western Australian.
The icing on the cake was the 10 Willow Park graduates that achieved black type - of those, six won stakes races and a further four placed in stakes places. The star of the show was She's Extreme (Extreme Choice x Keysbrook) taking out the Group 1 Champagne Stakes, to top off a super two year old season that also included victory in the Gr3 Magic Night Stakes. Brutality (Gr2), Babylon Berlin (Gr3, LR), Bella Vella (Gr3), Pinstriped (Gr3) and Vulpine (LR x 2) also added stakes wins to their records. Arentee, Boyfriend, Tahitian Dancer and Wealthy Investor gained black type with placings at stakes level.
To top off a fantastic season on the track, we had a very successful sales year, topped by Key (in foal to Frankel) selling for $1 million at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale and a highest yearling price of $700,000 for the Lope de Vega x Acqume colt at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Congratulations to all connections of winning WP graduates in the 2021/22 season, as well as our staff who worked with these horses as youngsters. Onwards and upwards for the new season ahead!
