Amizetta steps up

20 Mar 2025

Progressive mare Amizetta stepped up a notch this week, adding a stylish city win to her resume at Sandown for trainer Symon Wilde.

A four-year-old daughter of Arrowfield sire Dundeel (NZ), Amizetta is lightly raced with just nine starts under her belt for three wins to date. Relishing the step out in distance to 2400m, Amizetta took the lead from the 1800m mark and travelled beautifully throughout, powering away under Harry Coffey at the 200m to put a 2.25L gap on her rivals at the post.

The second foal of resident mare Aonair (Fastnet Rock), Amizetta was bred by long-time clients Alan Galbraith, Doug Alderslade and Michael Otto. She was sold through our 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale draft for $65,000, where she was knocked down to Symon Wilde, Pinhook Bloodstock International and Flying Start Syndications.

Regally-bred, Aonair is a daughter of Perfect Persuasion (Encosta de Lago), who held the record as the most expensive yearling filly sold in Australia for many years, selling for $2.6million in 2006. Stakes placed as a two-year-old, Perfect Persuasion owed her hefty price tag to the deeds of her full sister, Champion 3YO Filly and four-time Group 1 winner, Alinghi (Encosta de Lago).

Aonair's yearling filly by Palace Pier (GB) sold to John Foote Bloodstock and SCT Syndications for $55,000 at this year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and after missing last season, she is carrying a half-sibling by Newgate Farm's Stay Inside.
