Caulfield win for Autumnheat

15 Oct 2026

Wednesday’s metropolitan meeting at Caulfield provided the perfect opportunity for promising stayer Autumnheat to score his first city win for trainer Matt Cumani.

A last start winner at Geelong over 2440m, Autumnheat pinged the gates to lead all the way over 2400m under Harry Coffey, putting a 2.5L margin on his rivals at the winner’s post.

A five-year-old son of Too Darn Hot (GB), Autumnheat is relatively lightly raced, notching up four wins and four placings from 18 starts to date.

He is one of five winners produced by dual city winner Autumn (NZ) (O’Reilly), who is also the dam of stakes placed winner Arentee (Territories).

A half-sister to Gr3 Newcastle Cup winner Stratofortress (NZ) (Stravinsky), Autumn was a homebred for longtime Kiwi clients Hugh Fletcher and Dame Sian Elias, who retained the mare to race.

Autumnheat was sold for $40,000 at the 2023 Inglis Classic Sale, where he was knocked down to Matt Cumani’s stable clients Kevin and Prue Riddell (Rolsworthy Pastoral). Wednesday’s win took his earnings over $180,000 for connections.
