Duhallow produces 2YO stakes winner

06 Mar 2023

We're invested in the futures of the broodmares we offer for sale each year and it's always exciting to see them produce a good horse, especially at stakes level!

The latest example is Princess Duhallow (Shalaa), the impressive winner of the Listed Furphy Trophy at Flemington on Saturday at just her third start. The two-year-old filly is out of Denman mare Duhallow (pictured), a winner of two that was sold through our 2017 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft for $75,000. Three of Duhallow's progeny have been offered at auction, averaging $140,000, headed by a $210,000 weanling colt by Exceed and Excel.

Benedetta (Hellbent) was also electric when winning the $750,000 Inglis Sprint later on the program, the fourth win in her five start career, taking her earnings to $614,000. Benedetta is out of Whatalovelyday (Domesday), a Gr2 placed mare sold for $150,000 in the same draft as Duhallow. Whatalovely has already produced Gr2 placed Whatafox (Foxwedge) and looks highly favoured to score a second black type horse in Benedetta.

In fact, Willow Park offered 48 mares in that 2017 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft, 45 of whom were in foal, and an impressive eight of those mares have already produced stakes horses! The highlight of the draft so far is Keysbrook (So Secret), dam of dual Gr1 winner She's Extreme (Extreme Choice), followed by Remlap's Jewel (Choisir), dam of Gr2 winner So You Assume (So You Think). Can one of these fillies elevate their dam to the same level?
