Gr3 winner for Electric Charge
03 Apr 2023
With the broodmare sales looming, we were thrilled to see Electric Charge become the latest Willow Park broodmare graduate to produce a stakes winner on Saturday!
A huge day of racing at Randwick kicked off with the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) for the two-year-olds, won impressively by Libertad (Russian Revolution) following a head-to-head fight up the straight from the 300m mark.
The Annabel Neasham trained colt remains unbeaten, having won by 2L on debut 10 days earlier. On that occasion he beat fellow promising Russian Revolution colt The King, out of Why Be Discreet (Medaglia d'Oro) - a mare sold through the same draft as Electric Charge.
A $210,000 Inglis Ready to Race buy for his trainer, Libertad is the third winner for Electric Charge, who was purchased by Rheinwood Pastoral Co. from our 2016 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft for $200,000.
From a family full of two-year-old speed, Electric Charge is by the super broodmare sire Charge Forward, out of Listed Widden Stakes (2YO, 1000m) winner Miss Bussell (Danzero). Miss Bussell was also second to Excellerator (Marscay) in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and was Gr1 placed in the Champagne Stakes and Queensland Derby.
Electric Charge is the seventh mare from our 2016 Magic Millions draft to produce a stakes horse, joining Bernarsini, Fortune's Choice, In Style, Miatoko, Splat and Whatalovelyday.
