Green Angel scores at Sha Tin

Sunday evening saw the final Sha Tin meeting of the Hong Kong racing season, where Willow Park was represented by a new winning graduate in Green Angel.
A three-year-old son of Darley’s progressive young sire Harry Angel (IRE), Green Angel (pictured) was having just his fourth start for Champion trainer Pierre Ng and showed plenty of fight to win the 1200m contest by half a length.
Connections have been patient with the gelding, who arrived in Hong Kong unraced in November last year.
Green Angel’s first four starts have been well-spaced since April and while he had not yet finished in the placings, he had showed improvement each start and was in for the fight when headed in the final stages on Sunday night.
Bred by Willow Park, Green Angel is the fifth winner from six to race for resident mare Jacinta (Commands), herself purchased by Willow Park as a weanling and retained to race for six wins.
Jacinta has a weanling filly by Cosmic Force, who is such a good type that she is back in foal to the Newgate Farm sire this season.
Green Angel was sold at the 2024 Inglis Classic Sale to Midori Racing for $140,000. He was the second winner from that draft on Sunday, joining Roonami (Microphone x Miss Chaparral), who scored her second win earlier in the day for Matt Kelley.
At the opposite end of the draft, Roonami was a bargain buy for her trainer at just $14,000, but has already made a great return for connections with two wins and three placings from 10 starts, banking $52,000.
