Incredible sale result for Santa Clara

18 Nov 2022

Broodmare sales are a large part of our focus annually at Willow Park and we take great pride in watching our sale mares produce great results for new owners, both in the sales ring and on the racetrack.

The well-bred Foxwedge mare Santa Clara, a half sister to New Zealand Group 1 winning two-year-old Anabandana (Anabaa), produced an outstanding sale result yesterday at the Karaka Ready To Run Sale, where her two-year-old colt by Justify sold for $520,000 from the Ohukia Lodge draft.

The second foal from Santa Clara, the colt was an incredible pinhook result, having sold for $60,000 earlier this year at Inglis Premier. Santa Clara was sold through our 2020 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft carrying the Justify colt for $190,000.

The family is a progressive one and the Justify colt follows another great sale result after Crosswinds, a colt by Written Tycoon out of Santa Clara’s half sister, Gybe (Fastnet Rock), sold for $1,100,000 at the 2021 Inglis Premier Sale. Crosswinds has already added black type to the page, winning the Listed St Albans Stakes at Moonee Valley as a two-year-old in March.

Fellow 2020 Broodmare Sale graduate, No Doubt Ma’am (Not A Single Doubt), also achieved a great result at Karaka, with her first foal - a filly by So You Think - making $200,000, also from the draft of Ohukia Lodge.

No Doubt Ma’am was sold for $90,000 carrying the filly, who was another pinhook, having sold for $130,000 at the Karaka Premier Sale earlier this year.
