Strong Ready to Run results

24 Nov 2023

An incredible two days of selling has concluded at the Karaka Ready to Run Sale in New Zealand, where we saw a number of great results for the progeny of Willow Park-sold mares.

The highlight came right at the end of day two, when lot 381 - a colt by Deep Field out of Criquette (I Am Invincible) - sold to Malaysia's Magnolia Bloodstock for NZ$750,000, the third highest priced lot overall.

Breezing up in a slick 10.38 seconds for Ohukia Lodge, the outstanding colt is the third and final foal out of Criquette (pictured), who was sold off the track through our 2018 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft for $220,000 to Scone Bloodstock Services. A winner of four of her 12 starts for Kelso Wood and Patricia Gesler, Criquette was a half-sister to Hong Kong Champion Griffin Champion's Way (Hinchinbrook), from the family of Gr1 Telegraph Handicap winner Signify (Perfectly Ready).

Criquette's first two foals by Caravaggio (IRE) and Russian Revolution sold for $100,000 each as yearlings, while the Deep Field colt made $300,000 earlier this year at the Inglis Classic Sale.

Another great result was lot 333, the Capitalist colt out of Arrowette (Not A Single Doubt), sold by Kilgravin Lodge for NZ$450,000. A winner of five races, Arrowette was sold at the 2015 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale for $180,000 and has since produced five foals to race for four winners.

On the lower end of the scale, Elusive Valley (Equiano) was sold at the 2021 Inglis Broodmare Sale for just $42,500, carrying her first foal by All Too Hard. The subsequent colt was sold as a weanling for $140,000, before selling again on day one at Karaka as lot 19 for NZ$280,000.
