Group 1 win for Willow Park born Pinstriped!

11 Sep 2024

Pinstriped has become a fan favourite in recent times, particularly thanks to his hard-working and loveable trainer Enver Jusufovic, and team Willow Park were among many cheering the big chestnut home in Saturday's Group 1 Memsie Stakes.

The son of Street Boss (USA) put the writing on the wall at his previous start, when running second by 0.3L behind Gentleman Roy in the Gr2 Lawerence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield first up. Mirroring last season, Pinstriped was second in that same race in 2023 to Mr Brightside (NZ), before winning the Gr2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) at his next start. Stepping it up a level this season, Jusufovic Racing had him spot on for his second up run in the Gr1 Memsie Stakes (1400m), where he turned the tables on Mr Brightside to win by 0.4L.

With his first win at the elite level under his belt, Pinstriped now has seven wins and six placings to his name from 23 starts. Saturday's victory took his earnings to just shy of $1.7million, rewarding a patient group of owners who have seen a few unlucky runs for the big chestnut in that time.

Foaled at Willow Park Stud in 2018 for his breeder Jimmy Withers, Pinstriped is the second foal from Snitzel Blitz (Snitzel), who was a debut winner at Donald from just seven starts. She also foaled a Capitalist colt at Willow Park in 2022.
