Gale Saga wins at Sha Tin

17 Sep 2024

Sunday night saw week two of the new racing season in Hong Kong, where Gale Saga (So You Think) stepped up to break his maiden over 1400m at his sixth start for trainer Pierre Ng.

Returning from a spell, Gale Saga last raced in May and while he was previously unplaced, the four-year-old gelding had shown he possessed some talent with barrier trial wins over 1000m and 1200m.

From an international family that includes New Zealand Gr1 winner/Champion 3YO in Italy, Willie Cazals (Aussie Rules) (also Gr1 placed in Hong Kong), French Gr1 winner Tawkeel (Teofilo) and Willow Park born Listed winner Tales of Fashion, Gale Saga is the second foal of Snitzel mare Secret Copy. Due to injury, Secret Copy only raced on five occasions, but was a boom seven length winner at her second start for Matthew Dale Racing.

Gale Saga was sold at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2022 for $200,000 to the bid of Upper Bloodstock. Secret Copy has a Yes Yes Yes yearling colt to offer at the 2024 yearling sales and the mare herself was sold this week via the Inglis Digital Online Auctions, so Gale Saga's win provides her new owners with an instant pedigree update.

Gale Saga is the 25th Hong Kong winner bred or sold by Willow Park Stud and with 11 graduates currently in training in Hong Kong, we look forward to more winners in the near future!
