Gr1 glory for Willow Park-sold mare
24 Mar 2025

Willow Park broodmare graduates are having another fantastic season and with four stakes performers on Saturday, it was unbeaten colt Private Harry that put the icing on the cake with a brilliant Gr1 win in The Galaxy at Rosehill Gardens.
Private Harry has been the talk of the town in recent months, following a four-start first campaign over the Summer, for four wins culminating in the $3million Magic Millions Sunlight in January.
Having his first attempt at black type on Saturday, the Nathan Doyle trained colt returned in brilliant fashion, knuckling down for a fight in the straight, before pulling away for a 0.8L win.
The son of Harry Angel was bred by Rheinwood Pastoral Co., out of three-time winner Happy Pilgrim (Congrats), who they purchased with Mitchell Bloodstock from our 2018 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft for $75,000.
A half-sister to Gr3 placed Snipzu (Snippetson) from the family of Gr1 Ranvet Stakes winner Arkady (Myocard), Happy Pilgrim (pictured) won three races when trained by Luke Pepper.
She was offered by Willow Park carrying her first foal by Nicconi, who later won five races as First Crusade, and has been a wonderful mare for the Willis family, producing a foal every year since.
Now carrying a full-sibling to Private Harry, Happy Pilgrim's yearling filly made $220,000 at the recent Inglis Classic Sale, knocked down to Harry's connections in Nathan Doyle and Kurrinda Bloodstock.
Topping off a great day, three other progeny of WP-sold broodmares placed in stakes races on Saturday - Benedetta (ex Whatalovelyday) ran second in the Gr1 William Reid Stakes, Aeliana [NZ] (ex Temolie) second in the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas and Platinum Attack (ex Conchita) second in the Listed Lightning Hcp at Trentham.
