Happy Valley double for WP graduates

09 May 2025

It's been a productive season in Hong Kong for Willow Park graduates and Wednesday night at Happy Valley was no exception, with Perfect Pairing and Telecom Power taking our tally to five Hong Kong winners this season.

Perfect Pairing got us off the mark, relishing the 2200m trip to score his second career victory - his first since relocating to Hong Kong.

Trained by Champion trainer John Size, Perfect Pairing (pictured) was a winner over 1800m at the Sunshine Coast in Australia under the name Pairing, when trained by Tony and Maddy Sears.

By Pierro, he is the first foal of the well-bred resident mare Aonair, a two-time winning daughter of Fastnet Rock out of a sister to super mare Alinghi. He was bred by long-time client Alan Galbraith, who is expecting a Stay Inside foal from Aonair this season.

Perfect Pairing was sold to great judge John Foote Bloodstock at the 2021 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $170,000.

Telecom Power followed up with a victory over 1200m later in the program, also his first win since relocating to Hong Kong. Racing in Australia as Feel The Magic, he won two from three starts for Stephen O'Halloran.

A son of Rubick, Telecom Power is the first foal of Dream Genie (NZ) (Rip Van Winkle), from the family of Kiwi Champions Gee I Jane, Katie Lee and Banchee.

Bred by another long-time client in Darryl Guihot, Telecom Power was sold through our inaugural Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale draft in 2022 for $40,000 to Pinhook Bloodstock International and Pulse Racing Thoroughbreds.
