Wowee produces Gr3 winner

Spring racing is heating up week-by-week and Saturday’s Rosehill meeting saw the fourth stakes winner this season produced by a Willow Park broodmare graduate.

 

Having her first attempt at stakes company, Piggyback (Trapeze Artist) notched up her sixth win in the Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality (2400m) for Ciaron Maher Racing and Dynamic Syndications.

 

The five-year-old mare is a daughter of Wowee, herself a winner of the Group 3 SA Fillies Classic over 2500m at Morphettville. 

 

An imposing daughter of star sprinter Choisir, Wowee inherited her stamina from her damside, being out of the Zabeel [NZ] mare Zeal [NZ], herself out of a Sadler’s Wells [USA] mare. 

 

Wowee was sold by Willow Park at the 2014 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale, where she was knocked down to Bert Vieira for $210,000, carrying her first foal by Sepoy.

 

She has since produced three winners and her most recent yearling, a filly by Maschino, realised $170,000 at the 2025 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.
