Savvy Twinkle breaks through in Hong Kong

29 Jan 2026

Racing at Happy Valley on Wednesday night brought up a metropolitan double for Willow Park graduates, when Savvy Twinkle broke his maiden in the first race on the program.

Having shown promise at his recent starts, Savvy Twinkle broke clear 150m from home under Champion jockey Zac Purton, holding off late challengers to score by a length.

Unraced in Australia, Savvy Twinkle had two previous placings to his credit and appreciated a drop back in distance to 1000m.

Savvy Twinkle is the latest in a string of winners this season bred by the late Fergus Doyle. He was sold at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2022 for $180,000 to Mel O'Gorman Racing.

Trained by Frankie Lor, the five-year-old gelding is a son of Capitalist out of Listed Black Pearl Stakes (1200m) winner Exclusive Lass (Nicconi).

Savvy Twinkle is the fifth winner from five to race for Exclusive Lass, all of whom were foaled and raised at Willow Park. They include recent Listed winning two-year-old Lassified (Stay Inside) and the injury-plagued, Group 2 placegetter Boyfriend (Snitzel).

Impeccably-bred, Exclusive Lass is a granddaughter of three-time Group 2 winner Arletty [NZ] (Centaine), from a family that just keeps producing top horses.
