Russian colt tops Classic draft

In a relatively tough seller's market, where the average and median figures were significantly down on the 2022 edition, the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale saw mixed results for our draft of 10 yearlings.

 

Of seven sold, our draft-topping colt (pictured) was a son of Newgate's hot second season sire Russian Revolution out of Elegant Air (So You Think), sold to First Light Racing, Kestrel Thoroughbreds and Waterhouse Bott Racing for $170,000. A well-grown mid-November foal, the colt displayed his lovely relaxed temperament and beautiful movement perfectly all week in Sydney.

 

The second highest priced lot for Russian Revolution, he was clearly the most sought after colt by his sire in the sale, with the next highest-priced colt selling for $70,000.

 

We were also pleased to sell a pair of fillies for $110,000 each, including a filly by successful sire Star Witness out of winning Testa Rossa mare Nagas, sold to Richard and Chantelle Jolly. From a progressive family, the filly was the clear top-priced lot for her sire.

 

Also sold for $110,000 was a filly the first crop of Everest winner Yes Yes Yes out of Secret Copy (Snitzel). Sold to Rolsworthy Pty Ltd, to be trained by Matt Cumani, she was the second highest-priced filly by the sire at Inglis Classic.

 

Our attention turns now to the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, for which 13 yearlings are currently being prepared on farm.
