Stakes horse for Parmalove
09 May 2023
Parmalove (Snitzel) became the latest Willow Park sold broodmare to throw a stakes horse on Saturday, when her two-year-old gelding, Penvose Lad (NZ), ran second in the Listed Champagne Stakes at Riccarton Park.
Trained locally by Shane Kennedy and Anna Furlong, the talented son of U S Navy Flag (USA) has only had three starts to date for a win and two seconds, and was beaten by only a nose in Saturday's stakes race.
The second foal from Parmalove, Penvose Lad was purchased at Karaka last year for $80,000 and his half-sister, a filly by Written Tycoon, sold for $190,000 at Karaka earlier this year.
Parmalove's first foal, Mozzarella (Capitalist), was retained to race by breeders Inglewood Stud and won two from 10 starts, with a fourth at Listed level as a two-year-old.
Parmalove, a dual winner at two, was sold through our 2018 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft for $230,000 to Inglewood Stud. She is a half sister to two stakes winners in Liesele (Exceed and Excel) and Loved Up (Nicconi).
Parmalove joins Capella and Exclusive Lass as stakes-producers from our 2018 Magic Millions draft, with the oldest runners from these mares only being four-year-olds.
