Black type for Uncorked
21 Nov 2023
Our fourth stakes performer this season came with an international flavour, when Uncorked (Pierro x Piaf (NZ)) flew home for third in Sunday's Listed Forever Together Stakes at Aqueduct in New York.
Trained by Brittany T. Russell, Uncorked was having her seventh start on US soil, where she now has two wins and four placings to her name. The four-year-old mare also has a win and two seconds on her record in Australia for the Waterhouse/Bott stable.
Bred by long-time client Alan Galbraith, Uncorked is out of the winning Iffraaj (GB) mare Piaf, who hails from a family we know well at Willow Park.
Piaf's half-sister Axiom (NZ) [Zabeel], dam of stakes winners Xtravagant (NZ) and He's Remarkable (NZ), has been a resident at WP for 10 years, while their dam - five-time stakes winner Arletty (NZ) [Centaine] - also spent a few years on the farm at one point; as have close relations Kaleidoscope (NZ) and current resident Exclusive Lass.
The penultimate foal from Piaf, Uncorked was sold to Waterhouse/Bott Racing and Bruce Slade's Kestrel Thoroughbreds at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale for $130,000.
Piaf's final foal is the three-year-old filly The Little Sparrow (Not A Single Doubt), who has placed twice from three starts for Kacy Fogden, before a recent move to the Billy Healy stable.
