  • Najoom wins again

Gai Waterhouse knows how to get the best from a Northern Meteor filly as we have seen with Group I winners Amanpour and Cosmic Endeavour and she’ll be winning better races with the one she saddled up to win with a leg in the air at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Coming to town for the first time following easy wins at Hawkesbury and Newcastle, Najoom [pictured at the farm as a yearling] enjoyed a good run just off the pace for Tommy Berry and charged away over the final furlongs to win the 1300 metre contest by four lengths.

  • The Legacy of Zabeel

A fortnight ago the sales auditorium at Karaka in NZ was filled to capacity as onlookers sought a glimpse of the last Zabeel yearling to be sold at auction. Fittingly the colt was consigned by Cambridge Stud (who stood Zabeel) and was led by Sir Patrick Hogan (the man behind the horse.) Zabeel has made his mark as a Champion sire, as a sire of sires and as a broodmare sire. At Willow Park we have a number of broodmares who carry his blood - 2 notable daughters being MILLIYET and ZARZUELA. We thought we would share a photo of Milliyet with you.
